What began as a single garage in San Mateo in 1969 has evolved into one of California’s most respected names in collision repair. Founded by Charles Chilton, Chilton Auto Body has been a trusted name in the San Francisco Bay Area for over five decades. When Charles brought his son Mike into the business in 1984, the foundation was laid for a legacy of innovation, craftsmanship, and customer care.
By 1993, the shop had officially outgrown its humble beginnings and made the leap to a sleek new home in San Carlos. Under Mike’s leadership, Chilton Auto Body expanded rapidly—adding a second location in San Rafael in 2003, followed by San Francisco in 2004 and Burlingame in 2007. Today, we proudly operate over 20 locations and continue to grow.
